Basketball Nuggets 7/28

* Former IU star Eric Gordon made the cut for the 15-man Team USA roster. The team will be competing at the 2010 World Championships, and the players will all be considered for the 2012 Olympic roster.

* Kevin Coble will not be returning to the Northwestern men's basketball team this upcoming season. Coble missed all of last year with a foot injury and is apparently staying off the court in order to properly rehabilitate his foot. He says he will not transfer to a different school and will finish up his degree at Northwestern. This news shakes up the Big Ten a bit, though the Wildcats played better than expected last year after their star player Coble went down.

* Peegs is reporting that Crean and Co. are down in Orlando checking out BJ Young today.

* Austin Rivers, top recruit and younger brother of IU senior Jeremiah, had a nasty alley-oop on Sportscenter's Top Ten plays last night/this morning (it was #4). Hey Austin, will you work with your older brother a bit pleeeeeease?

* In some huge news, but the Pac-10 will officially change its name to the Pac-12. I'm not exactly sure why, though.
