Crossroads Classic official

The Indiana Hoosiers will join the other college basketball powers in the state of Indiana for the Crossroads Classic in 2011 and 2012. In December, the Hoosiers will play the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in one game and the other game will see the Purdue Boilermakers taking on the Butler Bulldogs. The 2012 Classic will pit the Hoosiers against Butler and Purdue against the Irish. The events, which will be held at Canseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, will put the four teams together for the first time since the Hoosier Classic ended in 1959. Credit can be given to Purdue athletic director Morgan Burke for getting things underway but all four ADs worked hard to get it done. Indiana AD Fred Glass had this to say: "It's a premier basketball venue in the country. It's wonderful that we are able to play it in the capital city" (ESPN.com). There is hope that the Classic will continue after 2012, but it seems that the match-ups will be limited to these two doubleheaders due to Indiana and Purdue playing each other in Big Ten play twice a year already.
