FINAL: Indiana 88, Florida Gulf Coast 60

Christian Watford scored a career high 24 points to go along with 5 rebounds and 4 assists as the Hoosiers breezed past Florida Gulf Coast 88-60 Friday night. The other big offensive star of the night was Jordan Hulls, who was 6 of 9 for beyond the arc for 18 points. Maurice Creek added 13 points in his first regular season action since his injury.
However, there are some things that the Hoosiers still need to work on moving forward. They committed 24 turnovers, while only forcing 22 on defense. It seems pretty amazing that in a game with 24 turnovers they were still able to win the game by 28 points, but the Hoosiers got it done. Verdell Jones returned and was in the starting lineup, though he was understandably rusty. He shot 3-10 and turned the ball over 5 times in 22 minutes, but it is very encouraging to see him back on the court. The offense runs a lot more smoothly when he is running it.
It was an easy win tonight, but if the Hoosiers can not cut down on the turnovers they are going to have a tougher time beating Wright State on Sunday. This is Indiana's 15th straight season opening win.
