Kelvin Amayo, class of 2011

There are some reports/rumors going around that class of 2011 point guard Kelvin Amayo is the latest prospect to receive an offer from Tom Crean and the Indiana Hoosiers. Amayo is from Newark, New Jersey and is entering his fifth year at NIA Prep School. He is listed by Rivals at 6'4", 200, so he is rather big for a point guard. My opinion is that while he may be able to run the pure point position, he is probably more suited to play as a "big" point or a 2 guard. The Hoosiers currently lack a true point guard and will be without one until Yogi Ferrell arrives on campus in 2012. Amayo seems to be the kind of guard that could run the point on his own, as well as be a great compliment to a player like Ferrell in a 3 guard set. Rivals reports offers from Colorado, Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. John's, and Arizona, among others, but it is being reported that IU is the latest school to show interest. With the Guy Marc-Michel ruling, the Hoosiers have an extra scholarship available starting next year. Of course, we don't yet have any concrete source reporting that Amayo has indeed received an offer, but Kelvin "retweeted" this earlier, acknowledging some Hoosier interest.

The Windy City Hoosier Source will keep you posted on any developments with Amayo, as well as the rest of the recruiting situation in Bloomington.
