Lyles and Blackmon Jr. have big days

Both Fort Wayne Bishop Luers and Arsenal Technical were in action today, which means that both of Indiana's 2014 commitments would be out on the floor. Freshman James Blackmon Jr. had a great game this afternoon as his Luers team beat Arlington 72-62. Blackmon finished with 23 points in the win and 17 of those came in the second half. Trey Lyles' Tech team was not as fortunate, losing 73-70 to a tough East Chicago team. Despite the loss, Lyles finished with 29 points and 11 rebounds. Stats are courtesy of Kyle Neddenriep.
Rivals.com's Eric Bossi had this to say about Lyles: "Trey Lyles has nice skill level, good feel for a young PF... Most impressive about Lyles is the solid foundation he has because of strong fundamentals. Uses fakes, proper footwork, soft touch."
It is becoming more and more clear that Tom Crean has landed some extremely talented freshmen prospects. Not often can a freshman lead his high school team the way that Blackmon and Lyles have been so far this season. It will be a long time before they make it to Bloomington, but the two buds already look like they have the potential to be top 10 national prospects. There has been talk by some already that Lyles is making a case for the number 1 spot.
