Remy Abell visiting Bloomington Monday

Lousville, Kentucky (Eastern HS) standout Remy Abell is making an unofficial visit to Bloomington this afternoon, according to Peegs.com. Abell signed a letter of intent with Bradley University but was formally released from his commitment this past week following the Braves' head coaching change. Tom Crean had recruited Remy last summer but never offered him a scholarship. The 6'4" 197 lb shooting guard is considered by many experts to be a steal this late in the recruiting game. Abell is also considering Xavier, Butler, Western Kentucky and Penn State as his final five schools. Peegs reports that Remy holds offers from all but Indiana and Butler, as of right now.
Scouts have described him as a great defender with athleticism. Abell averaged 16 points per game in his senior season for Eastern and shot 55% from the field. He played alongside Butler-bound Kameron Woods and IUPUI-verbal Lyonell Gaines.

The Hoosiers back court will not have a lot of depth in the 2011 season and that could provide Abell with a chance to contribute right away. Right now the Hoosier guard corps consists of Jordan Hulls, Verdell Jones and Maurice Creek. Victor Oladipo and Will Sheehey also have the ability to play the guard position but they are more wing players.
