Trey Lyles named National Freshman of the Year

MaxPreps.com released their list of the top national freshman players from this past season. The players are broken down into first, second, third teams and honorable mention. Only two committed players made the list, those being Indiana recruits Trey Lyles (Arsenal Tech) and James Blackmon Jr. (Fort Wayne Bishop Luers). Both Trey and James were honored as first-team national selections. Lyles was also honored as the overall player of the year.
Both Indiana verbals are very deserving of these honors. Trey Lyles averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds as a freshman while playing Varsity level in a Indianapolis competitive city league. James Blackmon Jr. let it be known that he is a premiere scorer, averaging 20.3 points per game.

Both freshman put up numbers that would be impressive for a player at any age, so Indiana fans should be excited about watching these two develop their games in the next three years before arriving in Bloomington.
