Hoosier tidbits 5/18/2011

* Despite the recent drop in rankings by Indiana's 5 committed 2012 prospects, the recruiting service still lists Indiana as the number 1 overall class for that year. A lot can change between now and 2012, since most of the top-ranked kids are still undecided, but IU's class has the quality and quantity to make a real run at staying at the top.

* Coach Tom Crean was finally able to discuss the third member of the 2011 class, Remy Abell, today after Remy officially signed with Indiana. A short snippet from the full quote: "He is a big guard who will have an immediate impact defensively with his ability to guard three positions." - Crean
* 2013 Cleveland Benedictine big man Mark Williams will make his college decision on August 12th of this year, according to announcement from the player via Twitter. Currently Indiana is the only school to officially offer Williams, though more are expected to offer this summer as he continues to play well on the AAU circuit. The 6'7" power forward is hearing from Ohio State, Michigan State, Penn State, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, and Wisconsin, plus probably others not yet listed by Rivals.

* Ron "Buss" Patterson made some minor waves this past Sunday following Team Indiana's upset loss in the adidas May Classic. Patterson, most likely upset after not getting the start in the loss, tweeted that he wanted to find a new AAU team. The team change was actually confirmed yesterday by Hugh Kellenberger, who reported that Buss will go back to the Indiana Elite One team he has played with in the past. The change reportedly has nothing to do with chemistry issues or IU and all to do with wanting to reunite with his old teammates for their final AAU season.
